Excellent herbal, green incense

| This really does work well with meditation. A high quality incense, very green-smelling, very herbal and fresh. It's strong and really wakes me up! Not at all smoky, though, it's no problem indoors, but would work outdoors as well. So far I'm really impressed with Bosen. |
Excellent Everyday Scent

"Herbal Meditation" is wonderful (I burn these large 8" sticks). An obvious Aloeswood base, spicy with a hint of sweet--Attributable in part at least to fennel (Lysimachia foenum graecum) in the mix.
As with other Bosen scents, completely unique. Not compareable to Tibetans from India or China--no cheap fillers. In my experience just as refined as the Japanese scents, but very different. A wonderful "home" scent for every day.

Subtle, burns a long time

This slightly smokier incense is a nice change from Japanese sticks. It comes in a white box with a cellophane outer wrapper, and when first opened, it reminded me of the smell you get when you go into a pier I -- that's good, as far as I'm concerned.
As for the scent, my nose can't detect any green or herbal note at all. It seems more spicy than herbal. There is a sort of classy, sweet smell, if you don't stay too near the burning stick. Too close, and all you smell is mostly a campfire-like wood scent. Truthfully, if it smelled as wonderful burning as it does in the box, it would be perfect.
One problem I had was finding a place to burn it safely. It's too big to fit in the tiny holders I have for Japanese incense. So I used a large, mostly spent 3-wick vanilla candle bowl. There are many places within the remaining wax, to make a little hole to support an incense stick. But now there are all these little incense stubs stuck in the candle wax...oh well. Maybe I'll melt the whole thing down and create a new kind of "incense stubs" candle. |
